Two Core Concepts You Need to Know

Before placing any bets based on odds, understanding these two concepts will help you make better decisions and avoid common mistakes.

Asian Handicap

Asian Handicap is a method that levels the playing field between two teams by giving the weaker side a goal advantage before the match begins. This eliminates the possibility of a draw, making betting outcomes more straightforward.

Quick example: Team A is given a +0.5 goal handicap, meaning even if Team A loses 0–1, your bet on Team A still wins because 0 + 0.5 = 0.5, which is higher than 1 – 1 = 0 (the actual result after applying the handicap).

Over/Under (Total Goals)

Over/Under is a bet based on the total number of goals, points, or sets in a match — not on who wins. You choose whether the combined total will go Over or Under the line set by the platform.

Quick example: The line is set at 2.5 goals. If the match ends 2–1 (3 goals total), the Over wins. If it ends 1–1 (2 goals total), the Under wins.

Pre-Match Odds vs Live Odds — Which Should You Choose?

Pre-Match Odds
  • Set before kick-off and generally more stable
  • Better suited for players who prefer to analyse before making a decision
  • Can be placed hours or even days before the match kicks off
  • Your odds stay locked in once the bet is confirmed, even if market odds shift afterwards
  • Better suited for parlays and accumulator bets since the value is locked in earlier
Live Odds (In-Play)
  • Changes every few seconds as the match unfolds
  • Lets you bet based on live momentum — such as right after a goal or a red card
  • Odds can shift sharply depending on the latest in-match statistics
  • More challenging but offers higher value at the right moment
  • Ideal for players who follow matches live and can react quickly

At 457, both odds types are available for most major matches. Players can go with whichever approach suits their style and strategy, or mix both for a more flexible betting experience.

Five Steps to Start Checking and Betting on Odds

  1. 1
Open 457 and go to the Match Odds section

From homepage, click the Match Odds menu in the top navigation bar. You'll see a list of available sports and leagues, sorted by the nearest upcoming kick-off times. No login is required to view the odds.

  2. 2
Select a sport and find the match you want to bet on

Use the sport filter to narrow things down to the league or team you want. Each match displays odds across multiple markets — including 1X2, handicap, and total goals — right on the listing view.

  3. 3
Click a match to view all available markets

On the detailed match page, you'll find a full list of all available betting markets, including specialised markets such as first goalscorer, total corners, and half-time result. Odds are updated automatically.

  4. 4
Log in or register to add bets to your slip

To place a bet, you'll need to log in to your 457 account. If you don't have one yet, registration takes under two minutes. Once logged in, click any odds to add them to your bet slip on the right side of the screen.

  5. 5
Enter your stake amount and confirm

In the bet slip, enter the amount in MYR you wish to wager. The system will show your potential winnings before you confirm. Once confirmed, bets cannot be cancelled unless the Cash Out feature is available for that particular match.

Match Odds FAQ

Decimal odds show the total amount you'll receive for every RM1 wagered, including your original stake. For example, odds of 2.50 mean that a winning RM10 bet returns RM25 (RM10 × 2.50). Your net profit is RM15 after deducting the RM10 stake. The higher the odds, the bigger the potential payout — but generally, the harder it is to win.

In general, confirmed bets cannot be cancelled unless the platform offers a Cash Out option for that match. Cash Out lets you close your bet before the match ends and receive a payout based on current odds — either to lock in a profit or cut your losses. Check whether this feature is available in your bet slip.

Asian Handicap uses fractions (e.g. -0.5, -1.5) that eliminate the possibility of a draw, while European Handicap (also known as 3-way handicap) retains three possible outcomes — win, draw, or loss after the handicap is applied. Most Asian players are more familiar with Asian Handicap because it's simpler — you only need to pick one of two outcomes. For more details, visit help centre us.
